The Simonside Suite

The Simonside Suite was created by GORDON CLARK and CLIVE KRISTEN during 1993/4. The intention was to recreate the moods of Coquetdale's past and, in particular the legend of Hrotha.

When King Hrotha was old he sent for his minstels.
" Play for me the sweet music of the Coquet," he said.
So they played, but he was not content.
" It is not enough," he said. " My spirit craves the shades of sunshine and sorrow and the merry melodies of time."
So they played and the sprites and the dryads played with them. And when the last note was sounded Hrotha raised his head.
"Now I am content," he said.
